Ode to a supermodel

I've tried to hate her fantastic physique, her high octane, commanding runway walk, her poise and her charm, but to no avail. It finally happened, Karlie Kloss the rising supermodel of the 2010s has grown on me. She was a busy girl at the end of 2011: she renewed her Dior Beauty contract, walked her first Victoria's Secret fashion show, and covered three December magazines in addition to a spread in Vogue with my current crush Eddie Redmanye. So here's to you Karlie, way to bring 2011 to a grand close, we look forward to your continual domination this year...

Here she is as a Victoria's Secret newbie:

Lucky leading lady, modelling Resort-wear with Eddie Redmanye in Ibiza (life is good):

Covering German Vogue:

Going a little avant-garde for Numero:

And the cover of Vogue Italia, and the accompanying spread that caused all that controversy:

You've got all the fashion bases covered here really: vacant stares, contorted poses, nudity, supposed flawlessness... ooops, relapse I must not hate on Karlie, I must not hate on Karlie. I just really want to be on holiday in Ibiza with Eddie Redmayne... sigh.

I mean I'd love to get to know you

Models models, more leggy clothes hangers and their envious good looks. Today I introduce you to my two favorites.

Sigrid Agren
Nationality: French
Date of Birth: 24/04/91 (19 yrs)

Significant Model Factoids:
- Came in second in the Elite Model Look France at 13yrs in 2004
- Signs with Elite in 2005 but has since switched to New York Models and most recently Ford
- Declared one of the top ten newcomers of the season for Spring 2009
- Has appeared in Chinese, French, Italian, Russian and teen VOGUE
- Walked the most shows of any model during Spring 2011!!

Why I LOVE Sigrid: Well A) she's gorgeous with the whole great skin, amazing body and big doe eyed thing going on B) she seems level headed and actually skipped the Spring 2010 shows so that she could finish her schooling C) she's super popular among designers and  walked 70 shows for Fall 2010 and 65 for Spring 2011 and D) I mean, seriously she's GORGEOUS! I donno, but I wanna imagine she's super nice and and we could be best friends: she'd do all the modeling and I'd just tag along as her agent and meet all the designers. Plan!

Runway moments from Spring and Fall 2011:

Chloe, Alexander McQueen, Celine, Dior, Gucci, Giorgio Armani, Versace, Calvin Klein Collection, Herve Leger and Donna Karan

Lanvin, Giorgio Armani, Viktor & Rolf, Gucci, Prada, Ralph Lauren, Haider Ackermann, Pucci, Alexander McQueen and Valentino
Favorite editorial: Italian VOGUE November 2009
Alot of the time models are pretty but unquie looking with unconventional features; however, Sigrid is just plain pretty and this editorial makes her look like a Venetian aristocrat at carnival. God I love the Renaissance!

Anja Rubik
Nationality: Polish
Date of Birth: 11/06/85 (25 yrs)

Significant Model Factoids:
- Scouted by Parisian agency in 2000 and debuts in February of that year
-Cuts her hair short in 2007
- Declared one of the new top models by VOGUE Paris
- Walks Victoria Secret Show 2009 & 2010
- Photographed by Lagerfeld for the Pirelli Calender
- Has appeared in editorials for Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Russian, German, Spanish, British, French, Italian and Australian VOGUE in addition to many covers

Why I LOVE Anja: I've watched many an interview and she's even more gorgeous on film in addition to being very down to earth. She said a good book would make her the most happy and that she travels with a kettle because of her obsession with tea. Plus her killer legs and body make her one of the most in demand in the business. She just got engaged to her long time boyfriend and they appeared on the cover of Russian VOGUE together.

Ad campaigns:

Runway moments:
Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Stella McCartney, Dior, Lanvin, Fendi, Gucci, Ralph Lauren, Proenza Schouler and Rodarte
Elie Saab, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Isabel Marant, Hakaan, Balmain, Pucci, Roberto Cavalli, Gucci and Marc Jacobs

And my absolute favorite editorial (OF ALL TIME!): Australian VOGUE April 2011. *See it here*

Her legs go for miles and she's got killer bone structure. I couldn't choose which image I liked best so I picked these two: in the top she's wearing an Ann Demeulemeester suit and below, a Christopher Kane dress. She's so timeless, urgh someone splatter me with paint, chuck me a neon dress and banish me to Australia... she sells clothes, this girl.

Anyway, maybe more models will follow soon... you'll have to come back to see *cheeky grin*

Hit me with your eyes so sweetly

Models. They're really just human clothes hangers and I have a few favorites that I wanted to introduce to you today because they crop up in my posts pretty often

Freja Beha Erichsen
Nationality: Danish
Date of Birth: 18/10/87 (23 yrs)

Significant Model Factoids:
- Signed with IMG in 2004
- Made her runway debut during the Fall 2005/6 shows
- Became face of Chanel in 2007 and has been
Lagerfeld's muse ever since
- Has appeared in the covers of British, French, Japanese and Italian VOGUE

- Has appeared in ad campaigns for Balenciaga, ck Calvin Klein, H&M, Gap, Pringle of Scotland, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Max Mara, Valentino and many more

Why I like Freja: Well, she's alittle badass and has a whole bunch of tattoos and piercings which are usually frowned upon in the industry. Also, when she was signed she promised not to cut her hair as a way to make up for her body art... one of the first things she did before fashion week? Cut her hair.

Her Spring 2011 Ad campaigns:

Some of Freja's runway moments of the past two seasons

Spring 2011 from left to right: Alexander Wang, Marc Jacobs, Oscar De La Renta, Gucci, Versace, Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, Pucci, Lanvin and Stella McCartney.
Fall 2011: Miu Miu, Alexander McQueen, Chanel, Valentino, Celine, Givenchy, Haider Ackermann, Lanvin, Balenciaga and Balmain
And lastly my favorite editorial: French VOGUE October 2010

Abbey Lee Kershaw
Nationality: Australian
Date of Birth: 12/06/87 (23 yrs)

Significant Model Factoids:
- Won the Girlfriend CoverGirl Model Search   in 2004
- Signed with NEXT Model Management 2007
- Has appeared in ad campaigns for: Hugo Boss, Versace, D&G, Ralph Lauren, Chloe, Chanel, Anna Sui, Alexander Wang and more
- Dyes her hair platinum just before the Spring 2011 shows
- V Magazine dubs her a 'supermodel' in 2011

Why I like Abbey: She's got this whole innocent as pie look going for her, but she is as much as a badass as Freja. I think her transition from brunette to platinum completely revolutionized her look and made her much more of a high fashion model. It's no wonder she entered the 2010 and 11 seasons as one of the most sought after.

Spring 2011 Ad campaigns:

 Donna Karan with Karlie Kloss

Runway work:

Chanel, Elie Saab, Stella McCartney, Viktor & Rolf, Balmain, Dolce & Gabbana, Versace, Gucci, Burberry Prorsum and Julien Macdonald
Favorite editorial: Australian VOGUE September 2009

Karlie Kloss
Nationality: American
Date of Birth: 03/08/92 (18 yrs)

Significant Model Factoids:
- Signed to Elite Model Management in 2007
- Sept 2007 named a rising star of the Spring 2008 shows
- Becomes face of Marc Jacobs perfume Lola
- Becomes face of Dior and muse to John Galliano
- Appeared on the covers of Italian, Korean, Chinese and Teen VOGUE
- Too many campaigns to count friends
- Paris VOGUE named her one of the top 30 models of the 2000s

Why I like Karlie: I'm not gonna lie, I used to dislike the 6ft teen with the magical walk, but something changed and she's grown on me. She's an exceptional walker and it is no wonder she has opened and closed as many shows as she has. I think I'm just super jealous of all the amazing opportunities she's had as a model. She's living the dream and she's bloody 18.

Ad campaigns:

Favorite editorial: British VOGUE October 2010
I think that's suitable for now and I really need to get back to writing papers so look to this space for another models post soon!
